What would it be like for you if you said yes to foster care? Well, you’ll defiantly have some major challenges that are hard to foresee but you’ll get through each one slightly bruised but better for going through it. Missing some events that you like to do, that’s for sure but you’ll be a better person for missing that event. You’ll also become somewhat isolated by some “friends” but it’s okay they just are not equipped to handle the issues that your child is going through. Hobbies, yeah you’ll have to slightly modify how you tackle them but you’ll get a great new enthusiast to your hobby and the both of you will benefit so much from that time together. Your biological children will feel somewhat distant to you at times but that is only because they are growing because of the added human(s) in your home. Guess what, they’ll be better sisters and brothers to them and a more adjusted person because they are getting stretched in all aspects of life just like you. Seeing you live out life sharing Jesus in and through your life is what being a parent is all about, right? You will also find a tight knit group of people who have the same passion for loving on children from hard places and that group will lift you up in times of need. So, what’s holding you back from saying YES?
There are two opportunities to start the journey of foster care here locally and are available through ONE MORE CHILD.
The beauty of foster care reverberates upon the backdrop of the brokenness which surrounds it. In light of the gospel it is our privilege to crawl into the story of others because Jesus has ultimately entered into ours. It is the call to wrap ourselves in their brokenness and willingly be broken by it – to exchange our normal for theirs and theirs for ours and begin to write an entirely new and better normal together.
