When someone talks of adopting through foster care the statement that ultimately seems to pop up is to be of the variety of statements about how thankful or grateful the child should be towards my spouse and me for adopting them. This statement comes from a form of ignorance and a place of assumption. Carla and I see that as adoptive parents, we are the benefactors, and here is why:
